This picture
was taken on Christmas eve 1968 from the window of Apollo 8 as it
came around the moon for the very first time.
...and this was taken on the very last Apollo mission in December
1972. You may have seen it before... Apollo 17 had the sun directly
behind it as the camera clicked. Every other photo of the earth from
space has some part of the surface in shadow but this shot is the
ONLY picture ever taken of the earth in full sunlight.
